Calabasas, June 20, 2008 – Construction is set to begin this summer on the first privately funded “green” shopping center in the City of Calabasas. With its cutting-edge design and prime, freeway-visible location, Dollinger Properties’ The Summit at Calabasas will serve the affluent communities of Calabasas, Malibu, Agoura and Westlake Village. The trade area boasts an average household income of $150,569 per year and a population of 109,094 people. Strategically located along the 101 Freeway at Lost Hills Road, The Summit will benefit from over 250,000 cars per day passing along the 101.
The shopping center is anchored by The City, an upscale electronics store operated by Circuit City. At 20,000 square feet, The City is an innovative, smaller concept that focuses on the best product merchandise in the electronics market.
The 70,000 square foot development, approved by the Calabasas City Council in March 2008, follows the city’s Green Building Ordinance and is widely supported by residents. “It will be a tremendous asset to the community and residents have been very supportive of what we feel is going to be an award-winning project,” says Robert Haas, Cypress Retail Group.
Spaces will be delivered to tenants at the end of 1st Quarter 2009 with a projected opening date of July 2009.
